Our commitment
Accessibility is part of our definition of done on an engagement, not a final audit, and we apply the same standard to our own site. Where we fall short, we would rather state it openly than publish a claim we cannot support.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML throughout, with a single logical heading hierarchy on every page
- A skip link to the main content, and a visible focus indicator on every interactive element
- Full keyboard operability — no functionality requires a mouse or pointer
- Colour contrast meeting or exceeding WCAG 2.2 AA for text and interface components
- Text that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320 CSS pixels
- Content that remains usable when text is resized to 200 per cent
- Descriptive link text, with decorative graphics hidden from assistive technology
- Animation and transitions disabled automatically when the operating system requests reduced motion
- Form fields with persistent visible labels, clear error messages and correct autocomplete attributes
- Landmarks and ARIA used only where native semantics were insufficient
Conformance status
This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at Level AA. We assess it as substantially conformant, meaning it meets the standard in most respects with the exceptions noted below.
Known limitations
- Some decorative background effects use CSS filters that may render inconsistently in older browsers. They carry no information, so no content is lost.
- Where we link to third-party sites such as social platforms, we cannot control the accessibility of the destination.
- This statement has not yet been validated by an independent external audit. We intend to commission one and will update this page with the findings.
How we test
- Automated checks with axe and Lighthouse before each release of this site
- Manual keyboard-only navigation of every page and interactive component
- Screen reader testing with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, and NVDA on Windows
- Zoom and reflow testing at 200 per cent and at 320 CSS pixel width
- Colour contrast verification against the WCAG 2.2 AA thresholds

We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two working days and to tell you what we intend to do about it. If you need information from this site in an alternative format, ask and we will provide it.
Accessibility in client work
On client engagements, WCAG 2.2 Level AA is our baseline rather than an optional extra, and it is written into the definition of done in the contract. For public sector bodies it is a legal requirement under the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018, and we produce the evidence needed for a compliant accessibility statement as part of delivery.
For everyone else it is simply better product engineering: accessible interfaces are clearer, faster to use and easier to test. Designing it in from the first wireframe costs very little. Retrofitting it into a finished system is genuinely expensive, which is the whole argument for doing it early.
